When the Detroit Lions spent a 3rd Round pick on Notre Dame defensive end Julian Okwara, the hope was that he would end up bolstering what was one of the worst pass-rushing defenses in the NFL a year ago.

Well, though Okwara may end up panning out and helping the Lions down the road, he will not be helping in Week 2 as the Lions rookie has been benched.

We found out about the benching when the Lions released their Week 2 Inactives List and Okwara was listed as OUT, despite not appearing on the injury report all week. According to Kyle Meinke, Okwara has been benched.
