As we all know by now, the Detroit Lions have fired head coach Jim Caldwell, and are in the midst of searching for his replacement. That search is still underway as they look both within the organization, and without. They are even searching rival opponent’s rosters. However, according to Josina Anderson, one of their own is looking elsewhere.
I'm told Teryl Austin, who is still under contract as the #Lions defensive coordinator, will arrive in Cincy tomorrow to interview for the #Bengals defensive coordinator position, per source.

That’s right folks, our defensive coordinator, Teryl Austin, is in talks with the Cincinnati Bengals to become their defensive coordinator. Which means he must feel he is not going to named the Lions’ next head coach.

What’s odd about this move is that it is not a step forward for him, but a step sideways. However, with the news that Bengals’ head coach Marvin Lewis has signed a two-year contract, Austin must feel the timeline to become a head coach is shorter in Cincy than it is in Motown.
Austin had his interview with the Lions on January 2nd, and let’s just say, there were plenty of Lions’ fans that were not a fan of Austin becoming the next man in charge.

He's partly responsible for 9 men on the field…not a great resume
