Detroit Lions’ DT Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison sets the record straight, calls out media on Twitter

Prior to the NFL trade deadline in 2018, the Detroit Lions made a deal with the New York Giants for DT Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison, one of the best run-stopping defensive lineman in the league.

Snacks proceeded to come to the Motor City and dominate, as he had done in the previous handful of seasons in New York.

During the last offseason, Harrison did not participate in offseason activities with the Lions and the media speculated that he was holding out for a contract extension, which he eventually got.

The hope was that Snacks would continue where he left off in 2018 but that was not the case as he struggled for most of the 2019 season. Some reporters said his struggles were because he did not participate in offseason workouts or training camp and that he came into the season out of shape.

On New Year’s Eve, Harrison took to Twitter, and with a series of tweets, he set the record straight as to why he was not around for last year’s offseason activities. Snacks then called out reporters who spread false information for clicks.

Here are Snacks’ tweets from earlier tonight.

Sometimes we forget that professional athletes are fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, and most of all, human beings just like the rest of us.

Snacks, we cannot speak for the plethora of other reporters who wrote those garbage reports speculating on why you were doing what you were doing, but on behalf of Detroit Sports Nation, I personally apologize for anything negative that we published.

Happy New Year and if you decide to retire from football, we will understand 100%.

God Bless.
