Detroit Lions expected to sign LT Obinna Eze

The 2022 NFL Draft is in the books and teams around the league are now getting deals done with undrafted rookie free agents.

According to reports, the Detroit Lions are expected to sign TCU LT Obinna Eze.

From Dane Brugler of The Athletic:

A one-year starter at TCU, Eze lined up at left tackle in former offensive coordinator Doug Meacham’s scheme. After not playing football until his junior year in high school, he was the highest-ranked recruit in Memphis’ 2017 class and started two years for the Tigers before transferring to TCU, where he had his most consistent season in 2021. Eze has a basketball background and boasts the long arms to dominate opponents as both a pass blocker and run blocker, especially when he locks out and keeps his punch on schedule. However, his feet are often late matching his hand movements, and he has a tough time reacting to moving targets. Overall, Eze has rare length and adequate movement skills to escort defenders around the arc, but he struggles with elusive rushers and his feet quickly get unsettled in space. While his timing and technique are a mess, he is worthy of a draft pick as a developmental swing tackle.
