The NFL didn’t let the Detroit Lions walk out of their Thanksgiving matchup with the Packers without dropping a couple of envelopes in the mail, and not the good kind.
Two Lions players were officially fined for separate infractions during the Thanksgiving Day Classic, and together, they’re out nearly $30,000.
Let’s break it down.

Jack Campbell Hit With Facemask Fine
Linebacker Jack Campbell was fined $11,593 for a facemask penalty in the third quarter, when he grabbed the mask of Packers tight end Josh Whyle on a tackle. The play drew a flag immediately, and now the league has followed up with a financial reminder.
Campbell has been one of Detroit’s most active defenders all year, and while this mistake cost him, it hasn’t slowed down his production.
Jameson Williams Penalized for Taunting
Then there’s Jameson Williams, who got hit with a $17,389 fine for taunting in the fourth quarter.
The play came during an emotional moment late in the game, and while Jamo has been heating up with his on-field production, the league wasn’t about to let the celebration slide.
Detroit obviously wants Williams playing with fire, but not enough to burn a hole in his bank account.
A Price Paid, But Momentum Remains
Even with the fines, both players will be key pieces moving forward as the Lions continue their playoff push. Detroit bounced back in a massive way against the Cowboys, and the energy around the team right now is sky-high.
Just… maybe fewer checks made out to the league office would be nice.
