On Tuesday, following a 3-12-1 regular season, Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia announced he was moving on from six of his assistant coaches.

One of those coaches, a bit surprisingly, was special teams coach, John Bonamego.
In fact, According to John McGinn of The Athletic, Bonomego was voted NFC North Special Teams Coach of the Year by personnel men from each team in the division.
From The Athletic:
Special teams coach of the year: John Bonamego (Detroit), 2.
Others: Shawn Mennenga (Green Bay) and Chris Tabor (Chicago), each 1.
Bonamego was fired on Wednesday after the first season of his second tour of duty with the Lions.
Nation, did Matt Patricia make a mistake by firing Bonamego?
