During the 2021 season, the Detroit Lions‘ defense was horrendous, and the hope was that they would show some improvement in 2022. That has not been the case, and, to be honest, the defense has been even worse than it was a year ago. One reason for the struggles has been the secondary, which was torched on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Just moments ago, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported that the Lions had fired DBs coach Aubrey Pleasant.
Why was Aubrey Pleasant fired by the Detroit Lions?
As mentioned above, the Lions’ defense has been awful so far in 2022, and one of the main reasons why has been the secondary.
Following Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins, Dan Campbell spoke to reporters, and he was clearly frustrated that the Lions’ defensive backs did not carry out the game plan that was put in place to stop Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Campbell has made it clear that he is not afraid to make tough decisions, and firing Aubrey Pleasant certainly fits that category.
