Three things to watch for:

  • Roster battles heat up – It’s do-or-die time for several players vying for a shot at the Lions final regular season roster. Key positional battles to keep an eye on will be the backup QB job (Dan Orlovsky vs. Jake Rudock), the final RB slot (George Winn vs. Dwayne Washington), the final WR slots (Andre Roberts vs. Jay Lee vs. Quinshad Davis vs. Jeremy Kerley vs. Jace Billingsley) the backup defensive tackles (Caraun Reid vs. Khyri Thornton vs. Gabe Wright vs. Stefan Charles) and the starting strong safety position that is up for grabs between Rafael Bush and Tavon Wilson.
  • Can the starting offense score touchdowns? In two preseason games so far, the Lions first string offense have shown that moving down the field shouldn’t be an issue – particularly the passing game. However, with only a field goal to show for four full drives, the question beckons – will they have problems scoring? The third preseason game is usually when the starters play at least a half of football and Matthew Stafford & Co. will look to halt those doubts in the first half against the Ravens.
  • Will Ameer Abdullah play? And if so, will he help get the ground game going? It’s no secret that the running game has looked really bad so far this preseason and it would be interesting to see if Abdullah can increase the production in that department.

Prediction

Lions 27 Ravens 17
