Detroit Lions: Golden Tate once hooked up rookie Tion Green

For those of use who follow the Detroit Lions closely, we know EVERYTHING about them on the field and even quite a bit about them off of the field.

But every now and then a story is released that we have not heard before and this is one of them (that does not surprise us).

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, while Golden Tate was with the Lions, he once hooked up rookie Tion Green after he saw him walking home from the facility one day.

Birkett says Tate was leaving practice a few years ago when he saw Green (who did not have a car) walking home from the Lions’ facility. At the time, Green was a UDFA and he was trying to save his money while trying to make the team. Not only did Tate stop to give Green a ride but he allowed the rookie to use his G Wagon for the next month, until Green got his own car.

We already knew Tate was as good a person as a player, but this is a great story!
