That's one way to build comradery amongst teammates during Training Camp!
Following practice, the Detroit Lions held an impromptu punting competition, with everyone else having to take sides between team punters Jack Fox and Arryn Siposs. The feats? Longest punt and closest to the goal-line without a touchback.
Naturally, the loser of the competition would have to be penalized with some funning.
And to add a little spice to the competition, several of the players who were on Fox's side began a “USA, USA” chant. Siposs just happens to be Australian. Maybe that was the extra motivation he needed, because he would emerge victorious by a 2-1 count.
Fox, who played college football at Rice, was signed by the Lions to a futures contract this January. Meanwhile, Siposs is a former Australian rules player who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League and signed with the Lions at the end of 2020 Draft as an undrafted free agent.
