When it comes to the 2022 Detroit Lions, it is going to be very interesting to see how quarterback Jared Goff performs compared to how he performed during his first season in the Motor City.
If Goff is able to step up his game and prove to the Lions that he can lead the offense efficiently, they may just consider giving him a long-term contract.
But if Goff falters, there is little question about it that the Lions will begin thinking about which quarterback they could land in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Detroit Lions just miss on Bryce Young, still land QB in 2023 NFL Mock Draft
Luke Easterling of DraftWire has released his latest 2023 NFL Mock Draft and he has the Detroit Lions selecting No. 9 and just missing out on Alabama QB, Bryce Young.
Instead, Easterling currently has the Lions selecting QB Anthony Richardson out of Florida with the No. 9 pick and then S Brandon Joseph out of Notre Dame with the No. 27 overall pick (via the Rams).
Here is what Easterling has to say about those two picks.
From DraftWire:
9. Detroit Lions | Florida QB Anthony Richardson
The Lions punted on the 2022 quarterback class, likely hoping to land a better prospect at the top of next year’s draft. Richardson flashed sky-high potential at times last season, and if he stays healthy, a breakout campaign this year could launch him into this range.
27. Detroit Lions (from LAR) | Notre Dame S Brandon Joseph
This pick should be spent on the best available defensive back, and in this scenario, the value comes on the back end. A transfer from Northwestern, Joseph is a versatile playmaker with impressive instincts and ball skills, allowing him to make an immediate impact against both the run and pass.
