The Detroit Lions head into their critical matchup against the Minnesota Vikings with a 2-2-1 record following last Monday’s heartbreaker loss to the Green Bay Packers.
And they know in order to get back into the win column, they need to capitalize on the fast starts they’ve enjoyed so far this season. They’ve scored seven of the past eight times they’ve had the ball in the first quarter; additionally, they have taken double-digit leads in their past two games.
Unfortunately, the past two games have resulted in losses. So how do they fix it? Does anything need to change with the offense? Not according to Kenny Golladay.
“Pretty much just do what we’re doing,” he said of the plan moving forward. “But the big part about it is just finishing the game. You can start fast all you want. If you’re not finishing the game, all that doesn’t really matter.”
“I want to say it’s just us. It’s on us,” he said. “Everybody’s just got to do their part. We can’t really just put it on other teams.
“Of course teams are going to make adjustments. We make adjustments. But at the same time, we’ve just got to execute the plays.”
Despite the positive numbers early on, Golladay and the Lions know that isn’t enough.
“Well, we can’t be doing enough if we’re not winning,” Golladay said. “So we’ve got to do more. We’ve just got to get better at details each and every week, lock in on our details and when it comes to down (games), we’re 100% on the details.”
