Detroit Lions have lengthy impromptu meeting with IU’s strongest man

According to the Hoosier Sports Report, the Detroit Lions had an impromptu meeting with the strongest player from the Indiana football team, Wes Martin.

Martin, who played on the offensive line, had a good showing on the bench press at Indiana’s pro day.

In front of representatives from 26 NFL teams, Martin did 38 reps of 225 pounds, backing up his reputation as the strongest player on Indiana’s football team. It also seemed to put him on the radar of at least one organization, with the Detroit Lions conducting an impromptu, post-workout meeting with Martin that lasted more than an hour.

Martin claims that he did 42 reps a while back but that his breathing pattern was off a bit this time around.

The best mark at the NFL Scouting Combine, which Martin was not invited to was 39 by Iosua Opeta of Weber State.

The former Hoosier seems like a sleeper at best but you never can tell.

BREAKING: Kelly Stafford returns home following longer surgery than expected

Published

on

According to Kelly Stafford, her brain surgery was a success and she is now back home.

“This Easter is the beginning of a new life for me.
I wanna take a second to thank all of you for all the prayers. They have worked. I know they have.
When they opened me up, I had an abnormal vein.. maybe abnormal for other neurosurgeons, but not the one We chose. He had seen it before and written a paper on it. That’s truly God’s work. The prayers for my family, I’m beyond thankful for. A six-hour surgery went to 12 hours and although they were anxious and scared, your prayers got them through. Thank you. Thank you so much. Now I am home and learning my new norm. It’ll take some time, but I really just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for all your support, thoughts and prayers. It means more than y’all will ever know.”

Detroit Lions ‘All-Local’ 2019 NFL Mock Draft

Published

on

This coming Thursday, the 2019 NFL Draft will officially begin.

Over the past few months, if you are anything like me, you have read literally hundreds upon hundreds of Detroit Lions’ mock drafts.

So, I figured it would be fun to think outside the box (but inside the state) to come up with what an ‘All-local’ Lions draft could look like.

Check it out.

Round 1 – Devin Bush Jr. (LB) Michigan or Rashan Gary (DL) Michigan

Round 2 – Justin Layne (CB) Michigan State or David Long (CB) Michigan

Round 3 – Sean Bunting (CB) Central Michigan or Chase Winovich (DL) Michigan

Round 4 – Maxx Crosby (Edge) Eastern Michigan

Round 5 – Khari Willis (S) Michigan State

Round 6 – Xavier Crawford (CB) Central Michigan

Round 6 – Karan Higdon (RB) Michigan

Round 7 – Zach Gentry (TE) Michigan

Round 7 – LJ Scott (RB) Michigan State

Now, I know there is a .0000001% chance of this actually happening, but those players should be available when the Lions are on the clock in each round.
