One of the biggest goals Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn has this offseason it to figure out a way to improve his team’s rushing attack. In 2017, the Lions were dead last in the NFL when it comes to running the football and yet the offense still managed to come in at No. 7 in points per game.

Whether or not you believe the Lions have to add a star running back, everyone can agree the offensive line must be better than it was a year ago. Specifically, Quinn has to figure out a way to improve at left guard and center.

According to Kyle Meinke of MLive, who joined 1130 AM on Monday, the Lions will not bring back center Travis Swanson for the 2018 season and former Michigan Wolverine Graham Glasgow will take his spot.

Swanson was originally selected by the Lions in the 3rd Round of the 2014 NFL Draft. During his time in Detroit, he played in 53 total games, starting 42 of those. Swanson will become a free agent if this report is accurate and the Lions do now work out a deal with him.

Glasgow, who will be entering his third season with the Lions, has started 27 games over his first two seasons in the Motor City while rotating between guard and center.

Making this move does not really rule out much when it comes to free agency or the NFL Draft, though it seems more likely that Quinn will have his eye more on the guard position than center moving forward. You can bet the Lions will add an interior offensive lineman or two before all is said and done.

SURPRISE REPORT: Detroit Lions want to re-sign running back

When it comes to rushing the football, the Detroit Lions have been extremely bad for quite some time now. So, it’s no surprise that one of the biggest missions Lions general manager Bob Quinn has this offseason is to do whatever it takes to improve the run game.

Many ‘so-called’ experts seem to have the answer. Some believe the problem can be solved by drafting a running back in the 1st Round of the upcoming NFL Draft (they are dead wrong), others believe it all begins with solidifying the offensive line (they are 100% right), and others still think Ameer Abdullah can be a solid running back (they MAY be right too).
