The day after the Detroit Lions played their third preseason game they are already making some roster moves. The Lions made their first round of cuts today. The players officially cut by the Lions are guard Alex Bullard, guard A.J. Dalton, defensive tackle Greg Hickman, running back Steven Miller, defensive end Kris Redding, and wide receiver Conner Vernan.
Rookie wideout TJ Jones also was moved to the reserve/physically unable to perform list.
That means Jones, a sixth-round pick out of Notre Dame, will be inactive at least the first six weeks of the season. Detroit then will have five weeks to evaluate Jones and determine whether to activate him or put him on injured reserve.

The biggest surprise of the first round of cuts is probably Kris Redding. He was playing really good football, and he will not be available for long. Redding was doing a good job of getting pressure on passers, but failed to really make an impact on the Detroit Lions’ talented defensive line.
