One thing is for sure, Matthew Stafford is going to have a plethora of weapons available to him when he leads the Detroit Lions offense on to the field in 2020.
With WRs Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones Jr., and Danny Amendola, pairing up with TE T.J. Hockenson and RBs Kerryon Johnson and D’Andre Swift, Stafford will certainly have plenty of options when it comes to distributing the football.
But according to a recent post by Peter King, the Lions may have a secret gadget weapon in 2020.
That secret weapon, is Jamal Agnew.
Agnew, who has primarily returned punts and kicks, was included in a recent meeting Lions’ wide receivers and WRs coach, Robert Prince.
Now, to be fair, this is not completely new as Agnew does have 7 total touches (4 rushes, 3 receptions) on offense during his 3-year career.
In 2019, Agnew was targeted twice and had one reception for negative two yards.
Obviously, Agnew is not going to come in and start getting 5 targets per game but having him as an option to throw off opposing defenses, even as a ‘gadget weapon,’ is nice for Lions OC Darrell Bevell to have in his back pocket.
