Heading into the 2022 season, the thought by most was that Amani Oruwariye would be the Detroit Lions No. 1 CB and that Jeff Okudah would be the No. 2.
Fast forward to the present and Okudah is No. 1 and Oruwariye was a healthy scratch in Week 5 against the New England Patriots.
The Lions’ secondary is banged up and the hope is that they can get healthy before their Week 7 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Who would be included in a trade between the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks?
According to Eric Edholm of NFL.com, Seattle Seahawks CB Sidney Jones is a player who should be moved before the November 1 trade deadline.
Edholm added that the Detroit Lions are a potential destination for Jones but only if they think they’re in contention.
Despite entering the NFL back in the 2017 draft, Jones is still just 26 years old. He has a base salary of $1.6 million, which makes him easier to trade. Plus, Jones plays a premium position at which several teams could be seeking help in the coming weeks.
The Lions are a team badly in need of corners, and Jones played well in an injury-abbreviated 2020 under then-Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash, now Detroit’s defensive line coach. Depending on whether the Lions think they’re in contention, they could be a possible team of interest.

Will the Detroit Lions trade for CB Sidney Jones?
As noted by Edholm, this trade would only go down if the Lions somehow get into contention before the deadline.
In order for that to happen, the Lions would have to beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7 and the Miami Dolphins in Week 8 (October 30) to move to 3-4 on the season.
Even then, would the Detroit Lions trade for Jones? I have my doubts.
