Heading into the 2022 season, there were a few players who the experts were predicting to be the Detroit Lions MVP when all was said and done.
Some players who were mentioned as potential MVP candidates were Jared Goff, D’Andre Swift, and even rookie Aidan Hutchinson got some love before the season started.
Well, the Lions are off to a rough start as they are currently 1-3 and there is a feeling that their upcoming game against the New England Patriots is almost a must-win situation for the boys in Honolulu blue and silver.
Who is the Detroit Lions MVP through Week 4?
All of that being said, who is the Detroit Lions MVP through Week 4? Well, my hint to you is that it is not a player!
Yes, Jared Goff is tied for the NFL lead in touchdown passes and D’Andre Swift has been awesome (when he has not been injured) but there is somebody else who has been the Lions’ true MVP so far in 2022.
That person is offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson.
Johnson, who is in his first season as the Lions OC, has been brilliant so far calling plays. Not only are the Lions leading the NFL with 35 points per game, but Johnson figured out a way to hang 45 on the Seahawks without three of his top offensive weapons and 40% of his original starting offensive line.
Honorable mention/Players that must improve
To me, the only other person I would consider to be the Detroit Lions MVP up to this point is Jared Goff, who besides a couple of pick-sixes (this cannot happen anymore) has been solid up to this point.
As far as players that must improve, I would say that EDGE Aidan Hutchinson and CB Amani Oruwariye are at the top of the list. That being said, if I am going to name Ben Johnson as the team’s MVP up to this point, I have to mention that defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has had a VERY rough start to the season as the Lions have allowed the most points in the NFL.
Nation, who do you think is the Detroit Lions MVP through Week 4?
