On Friday, the Detroit Lions announced they have released their starting RT from 2019, Rick Wagner, who is was slated to make $9 million in 2020.
The move reportedly frees up around $6 million in cap space but it also means the Lions will have to replace their entire right side of the offensive line as RG Graham Glasgow is also expected to go unsigned and hit free agency.
With Wagner gone, Lions GM Bob Quinn will have to decide which route he wants to take in terms of acquiring a starting right tackle. Will he sign a free agent? Will he use a draft pick to grab Wagner’s replacement?
Or, will Quinn just roll which what he already has in-house?
As we speak, the Lions starting RT in 2020 will be Tyrell Crosby.
Crosby, in my opinion, is worthy of a roster spot for sure, but is his a starting caliber tackle on a good offensive line? That I doubt.
Crosby is the starter for now but you can bank it that Quinn makes a move or uses a draft pick to acquire someone more capable.
Nation, what do you think the Lions will do? Was it a mistake to cut Wagner in the first place?
