Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford reveals weak expectation for 2020

On Tuesday, some predictable news broke that Detroit Lions ownership had informed head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn will he back in 2020.

According to reports, Martha Ford said Patricia and Quinn are both returning with the understanding that the expectation is to contend for the playoffs next season.

From MLive:

“We expect to be a playoff contender (next year),” owner Martha Firestone Ford said during a chat with a small group of beat reporters on Tuesday afternoon. “Those are our expectations, which we’ve expressed to both Bob and to Matt.”

Wait, what?!?! Martha expects the Lions to be a “playoff contender” in 2020?!?!

This has to be a joke.

You mean to tell me that Quinn and Patricia have followed up a 9-7 season in which the Lions barely missed the playoffs with a 6-10 2018 followed by a 3-10-1 (so far) 2019 and the owner’s expectation is only to contend for a playoff spot next season?

I’m sorry but this is exactly why this organization has continued to fail over the past 50 years!

Nation, what are your thoughts on the weak expectation?
