Inquiring minds want to know – what do your favorite NFL players eat for breakfast?
The Detroit Free Press got together with several members of the Detroit Lions to get their answers of their favorite items for the day’s most important meal.

“Grits and eggs. I make them. I can make them, mom makes them. Everybody makes them. If you in my household, you’re making me grits and eggs if I ain’t cooking it. It’s my favorite. It’s a big thing in the south. It’s so good. I love it.”
C Frank Ragnow
“Ooh. There’s a place called Kowalski’s in Minnesota. It’s like an upscale grocery store, kind of like a Whole Foods. And they have these super expensive, unnecessarily expensive but good like croissants, breakfast sandwiches. Fire. Eggs. It’s just eggs, sausage, cheese, cheddar cheese. I think there’s probably a lot of butter and it’s like panini crust. It’s pretty good.”

“Can’t go wrong with pancakes. What about meal? I like the whole enchilada. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, hash browns. Grits. When I got time, it’s like – have you ever went to sleep like, ‘Man, I can’t wait to eat breakfast?’ So, yeah, it really all depends on how I’m feeling, really. Before some games I might want this, might not. Might want a smoothie. A protein shake and fruit, and then just hydrate after that. But some days I might want a waffle.”

“I’m going to have to go with chicken and waffles. Yeah. Oh, man. Love it. That’s my – I’ll eat chicken and waffles for dinner, it don’t matter. But for breakfast especially. My mom used to make it for me and there’s a lot of places, growing up in the south, chicken and waffles is a huge meal. You can make it a lot of different ways, and then you got shrimp and grits, which is a close second. Now I’m getting on a tangent, but shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles, that’s a southern cuisine.”

“I like chicken and waffles, but if I had to pick an individual food, bacon for sure. Bacon’s just on everything. Burgers, pizza, all of it.”

“Waffle House. If I could choose to get a consistent breakfast from a certain place – my girlfriend cooks a great breakfast, too – but I would choose Waffle House and I’d get an all-star meal. Scrambled egg and cheese with the sausage patties. They got toast that comes with it, but you’re getting a waffle. I choose the hash browns and chop up the ham with the onions in there and I also get grits, too. Southern boy.”
