Detroit Lions players share New Years resolutions, including more wins

2020 will be a new year for the Detroit Lions, and they’ll be happy to put 2019 behind them. A record of 3-11-1 (as of Sunday before facing Green Bay) means yet another year without a playoff appearance.

You can bet that more wins next year will be among everyone’s resolutions.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press got the answers from several Lions players on what they’ll be doing differently in 2020:

C Frank Ragnow
“Less on social media. Just anything on social media I feel like is the most wasted time in the world. Like SnapChat, I’m trying to get rid of that. Checking Twitter, checking Instagram, I’m trying to get off of that. Except for Grizzly Man Outdoors. Got to keep that thing rolling. I’ll keep that thing rolling. That’s business. That’s different.”

S Tracy Walker
“Help change this organization however I can. That’s individually, in the community, on the field. All the way around. I just want to be a better man. That’s my New Year’s resolution.”

RB Bo Scarbrough
What I’m going to try to change about myself is I’m going to try not to eat junk food and drink sodas, and what I’m going to try to do better is eat a little healthier, pay more attention to my body and worry about Bo. Instead of worrying about the things that’s around me, I got to do a better job of worrying about myself first. I have to love myself and get to know myself before I can love and try to help somebody else. Because if I can’t love myself, how can I love someone else when I don’t even love myself, or help someone when I can’t help myself?”

WR Chris Lacy
“I haven’t really thought about it yet. I’m pretty much in a good place right now. I don’t know if there’s anything I’m trying to change. One thing I will say, I’ve always said I wanted to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. I just started, so just to keep that up. So that’ll be something.”

OG Oday Aboushi
“I think it’d be to be more mindful. Just more mindful. Of people, of situations, of things going on. How I approach things. Sometimes I feel like a lot of it gets super methodic and you get in a rhythm and you kind of just stay in that kind of lane, and I think it’s important to kind of sometimes sit back and just kind of just realize where you are and be where your feet are and kind of be in the moment. I feel like a lot of times in life we’re just worried about getting to the next step and we just kind of skip the one we’re in.”

TE Isaac Nauta
“I think just always growing as a person, first. I think just maturing and learning more about life and how to go about things. I think that’s always my goal, is just to be an overall better person. The way I treat people, the extra things I do, just ’cause the older I get, the more I’ve realized that it’s about people and relationships. And just being able to connect as humans, and I think that’s something that if you work on a little bit more every year, then overall you’ll be better.”
