Detroit Lions’ players tell rookie RB, ‘Kerryyoasson to a barber shop!’

One of the brightest surprises for the Detroit Lions this season has been rookie running back, Kerryon Johnson.

So far in six games, Johnson has rushed for 444 yards on 69 carries (6.4 ypc) and he has looked much more like a veteran RB than a rookie.

Johnson's teammates love him and they definitely love the job he is doing on the field, but apparently, they do not love his hair.

In fact, some of the Lions players have requested that Johnson get his hair cut because it is always out of control.

From Detroit Free Press:

“Sometimes it’s smushed down,” LeGarrette Blount said Thursday. “Sometimes it’s crooked. Sometimes one side is picked out. Sometimes one side is not.

“Just like I have to keep the dreads fresh; I’ve got to get them done. But obviously my hair’s like this, so it’s easier for me to keep my hair intact than it is for him.”

Following Johnson's 158 yard performance this past Sunday against the Dolphins, Blount is no longer quite as demanding when it comes to the rookie going to the barbershop.

“We just want him to go get a haircut,” Blount said. “That’s what we want him to do. But now we can’t argue that because he’s had a 100-yard game and a 150-yard game. So we’ll let him do his thing.”

“At this point,” Blount said, “I just want whatever length it is right now, I just want him to keep it at that length.”

In fact, with Johnson performing so well, Blount thinks the safe bet may be to leave the hair alone for a while.

“Eh, whatever he did, whatever his hair length was in these last few weeks, in these last couple weeks, we want to keep it there,” Blount said. “I ain’t saying I’m superstitious, but I’m just saying. I would rather not test it.”
