Detroit Lions playing 2 Thanksgiving games in 2019

In 1934, the Detroit Lions hosted a game on Thanksgiving Day and that tradition has continued ever since, with the exception of 1939-1944 when the series was interrupted for World War II.

But this year, the Lions will actually play in two Thanksgiving games.

How is that possible, you may ask?

Well, thanks to Detroit Red Wings announcer Ken Kal pointing it out on Twitter back in October, we now know the Lions played on the Canadian Thanksgiving (MNF loss to Green Bay) and they will play on the USA Thanksgiving against the Chicago Bears.

Overall, the Lions are 37-40-2 in (USA)Thanksgiving Day games with their last win coming in 2016 when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 16-13 at Ford Field.
