Detroit Lions QB Teddy Bridgewater changes number… again
Teddy Bridgewater has been a member of the Detroit Lions for less than a month, but, according to a report, he is now wearing his third different jersey number with his new team. According to NFL Jersey Numbers on Twitter, Bridgewater, who has already worn No. 50 and No. 17 for the Lions, is changing to No. 10.

Why it Matters
Going all the way back to his days as a high school quarterback, Bridgwater has always worn the No. 5. As it stands, David Montgomery wears No. 5 for the Lions, and though there has been some chatter about him possibly giving up that number for Bridgewater, it appears as if the veteran QB will start the 2023 season in the No. 10 jersey.
TL;DR (too long didn't read)
- Quick Changes: Despite joining the Detroit Lions less than a month ago, Teddy Bridgewater is now on his third jersey number, transitioning from No. 50 to No. 17, and now settling on No. 10.
- Historic Preference: Historically, Bridgewater has shown a preference for No. 5, which he wore since his high school quarterback days. This number is currently worn by David Montgomery on the Lions.
- Possible Number Negotiation: While Bridgewater has settled for No. 10, there's ongoing speculation regarding Montgomery potentially relinquishing No. 5 for Bridgewater in the future.

Bottom Line: A Steady Back-Up Plan
Make no mistake about it, the Detroit Lions offense will go as far as starting quarterback Jared Goff takes it. With that being said, if Goff were to go down with an injury, it is reassuring to know that the team has Teddy Bridgewater to keep the ship moving forward. The bottom line is that in a perfect world, the only time Bridgewater gets in a game in 2023 is if the Lions are winning by 30 in the fourth quarter.
