While Matt Patricia was head coach of the Detroit Lions, there was no shortage of reports about how things were more of a dictatorship than a democracy. Patricia was known to belittle his players and rule with an iron fist. There was no fun to be found at training camp while Patricia was running the show.
But Patricia has been fired and there is a new sheriff in town and his name is Dan Campbell.
On Wednesday, the Lions opened up training camp for the 2021 season and following practice, D’Andre Swift spoke to the media and compared this year to his rookie season under Patricia.
“Energy is a lot different. Guys smiling, having fun. … People kind of forget to have fun, playing a kids’ game. You can’t forget to have fun.”
There is certainly a different feel this year. Let’s hope that eventually translates to wins.
