Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson sounds off on potential return to lineup

Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson has been absent from the lineup since suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings.

And since then, the Lions season has gone absolutely downhill. They currently sit at 3-10-1 with no hope of a playoff appearance and nothing to play for besides pride and jobs next season.

Johnson could potentially return for tomorrowโ€™s matchup against the Denver Broncos, and though he knows the decision isnโ€™t in his hands, heโ€™s ready to go.

โ€œI hope to,โ€ Johnson said. โ€œI donโ€™t make those decisions, but if Iโ€™m called upon, Iโ€™ll be ready. And if Iโ€™m not, Iโ€™ll be ready to cheer โ€™em on. But I feel good, I feel like I can (play) if I need to, but like I said, that decision is way above us, so weโ€™ll wait and see.โ€

Heโ€™s been practicing for the past three weeks and is eligible to return from IR. Heโ€™s tired of sitting on the sidelines, and is anxious to get back into game action.

โ€œI feel good, man,โ€ Johnson said. โ€œIโ€™ve been practicing for, what? Three weeks now, I guess? Itโ€™s been fine. Just trying to get back to my old self, just working, being out there having something to do instead of sitting around watching everybody else do stuff. Itโ€™s very exciting, so Iโ€™ve been happy.โ€

Should Johnson appear in game action, it will surely be a hotly-contested topic among the fan base, many of whom would rather see Johnson sit and avoid further injury going into next season.
