Niese, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman out of Dayton and Temple, appeared in eight games for Detroit in 2025 and brings versatility and continuity to the offensive front. The 27-year-old has 26 career appearances and has been a reliable rotational option for the Lions.
Saylors, 24, carved out a role on special teams during the 2025 season, appearing in all 16 games. He logged limited offensive snaps at running back but contributed as a depth and developmental piece in the backfield.

Whiteside, a 6-foot-1 cornerback and Michigan native (Auburn Hills / Avondale HS), played in nine games for Detroit in 2025 after previously spending time with Washington. The 25-year-old recorded five tackles and three passes defended, flashing potential as a rotational defensive back and special-teams contributor.
All three players were previously exclusive-rights or reserve options, making their returns expected but important as Detroit begins shaping its 2026 offseason roster.
The Lions are expected to continue making similar moves in the coming days as the front office evaluates internal depth ahead of free agency and the NFL Draft.
