On Tuesday, the Detroit Lions organization revealed T.J. Lang’s status following his 6th career brain injury.
Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions are optimistic that the veteran guard will be able to return in the 2018 season. No current timetable has been provided by the Lions organization. After suffering his second documented brain injury in the past 11 months, Lang fully intends to continue his career.

In November of 2017, Lang openly discussed his bodily and brain injuries. He assessed his ability to continue to play and concluded that “the benefits of playing outweigh the risks”.
Although he exhibits a high level of fortitude, Detroit fans wonder how much more T.J.’s body and brain can take. He’s been fighting in the trenches for ten years at the professional level. Not a soul would bat an eye at him taking care of his future well being by hanging it up now.

After defeating the Green Bay Packers this past Sunday, the Detroit Lions are now within a game of the .500 mark and within striking distance in the NFC North.
