The Detroit Lions will head into their Week 18 showdown against the Chicago Bears shorthanded, as the team has officially ruled out five players on the final injury report.
Right tackle Penei Sewell, defensive tackle Alim McNeill, offensive lineman Trystan Colon, safety Thomas Harper, and linebacker Alex Anzalone will not suit up for Sunday’s regular-season finale at Soldier Field.
Sewell and McNeill, two core pieces in the trenches, did not practice all week. Dan Campbell hinted earlier that Sewell’s chances of playing were slim, and the final report confirmed it.
Anzalone’s situation carries an additional layer of uncertainty. The veteran linebacker is in the final year of his contract, meaning this weekend could mark the end of his Lions tenure if the team elects to move in a different direction this offseason.
Meanwhile, several other starters and rotation players are listed as questionable, leaving Detroit’s lineup very much in flux heading into kickoff.
