Detroit Lions sign former Central Michigan tight end Ben McCord

According to reports, the Detroit Lions have signed a tight end to replace the injured Tim Wright.

Wright tore his ACL, prompting the team to sign former Central Michigan Chippewa TE Ben McCord.

McCord caught 37 passes for 570 yards and five touchdowns in 2015 for the Chips.

Via Detroit Lions:

Wright was acquired via trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 and appeared in nine games (one start) for the Lions last season, finishing with nine receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Originally signed by the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers in 2013, Wright’s career totals include 41 games (11 starts), 89 receptions, 907 yards and 13 touchdowns.
