Guard Joe Dahl has been placed on Injured Reserve with a groin injury; he’ll miss at least the next three weeks per the NFL’s COVID-19 mandate.
Conversely, the team has announced the signing of DT Kenny Wiggins off the practice squad, as well as the elevation of DB Dee Virgin and DT Kevin Strong.
Wiggins has started 13 games for Detroit the past two seasons. New offensive line coach Hank Fraley had this to say about him:
“It’s good to have those guys like Oday, Kenny Wiggins, they’ve always prepared, and I think what you try to stress to those guys is prepare as like you’re starting, because you never know when you’re in,” Hank Fraley said. “The continuity just comes from working with each other. I think we try to do a nice job mixing them in throughout the practice too. Making sure they’re all getting reps together; you just never know when somebody might go down. It might even be four shoelaces that’ll come out, so you got to be ready. You got to prepare.
“I think they do a nice job and having veterans like them, they also help you prepare those younger guys and get them ready to play too. Those guys can lean, like a Jonah, a Logan, those guys can lean on those vets and they keep bringing them along.”
The Lions and Packers get underway tomorrow at 1:00 PM EST.
