Detroit Lions starting wide receiver out with injury

This week, the Detroit Lions traveled to Houston for some joint-practices with the Texans before the two teams square off in preseason game No. 2 on Saturday.

On Thursday, Lions head coach Matt Patricia spoke to the media and revealed that starting wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. did not make the trip as he is working through an undisclosed injury back in Detroit.

“He’s back in Detroit working out,” Patricia told he media. “We’re just obviously trying to be smart with him. He’s been pushing really hard, and we got a lot of good work out of him last week.”

This does not come as a huge surprise as there has been speculation that Jones was dealing with an injury, possibly the same knee inury that caused him to miss the end of the 2018 season.

Jones did participate fully in other practices this year, so hopefully this is just a precautionary measure and he will be ready for the start of the season.
