The Detroit Lions have a new starting quarterback and his name is Jared Goff.
Goff, as you know by now, was acquired via a trade that sent long-time Lions QB Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams.
Most are viewing Goff as a major downgrade from Stafford but that is not what Lions players and coaches are thinking about.
In fact, Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson, who will likely be Goff’s top target in 2021, is very happy with what he has seen so far out of his new signal-caller.
“He’s hungry,” Hockenson said.
“He’s a guy who really cares about his players, wants to connect with them,” Hockenson continued. “I think that’s really cool. Just to be able to have that connection outside of football. Just to be able to hang out with him, be friends. That’s a cool situation that we have and that he’s got in that locker room.”
There is no question about it that Goff is a likable guy. But there is a question about whether he can get back to the level he was playing at earlier in his career.
I believe he can and will do just that before his time with the Lions is over.
