Heading into Week 18 of the 2022 NFL regular season, the Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers were all alive for the final NFC wild-card spot. But, when the Seahawks defeated the Los Angeles Rams in overtime during the late afternoon game, the Lions were officially eliminated from contention. That meant that if the Packers beat the Lions on Sunday Night Football, the Packers would get into the playoffs, while a Lions win would mean the Seahawks would get in.
What did the Detroit Lions say to the Seattle Seahawks fanbase?
Of course, as soon as the Seahawks defeated the Rams, they (and their fans) immediately became fans of the Lions.
As we now know, the Lions were out to earn respect, and they ended up doing exactly that by defeating the Packers 20-16 at Lambeau Field.
Following the Lions' win, Seahawks fans began donating money to the Detroit Lions foundation, and on Friday, the Lions thanked the Seahawks fanbase, announcing that over 700 donations netted nearly $20,000 in donations.
As you can see, one person donated a whopping $2016 in honor of the Lions beating the Packers 20-16, while somebody else donated $30 in honor of Jamaal Williams, who broke Barry Sanders' all-time single-season rushing TD record for the Lions.
Thank you, Seattle!
