Kerley, who is 27-years-old, seemed to have a good shot at making the Lions roster after being signed in the offseason, but when Detroit went out and inked Anquan Boldin, it seemed like Kerley’s days were numbered with the team. He did little to change the mind of Lions GM Bob Quinn over the first three preseason games and became expendable.
After tearing his ACL in a predraft workout with the New Orleans Saints, Brandon Thomas was drafted by the 49ers in the 3rd Round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Because of the injury, Thomas was forced to miss his entire rookie season and when he returned in 2015 he did not start a single game for the 49ers.
