Patrick, 31, joined the Lions in 2024 after spending four seasons with the Denver Broncos. He was a reliable depth option, posting 33 receptions for 394 yards and 3 touchdowns in his lone season with Detroit. Over his NFL career, Patrick has totaled 176 receptions for 2,403 yards and 15 touchdowns in 71 games played.
As noted by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Patrick had a sluggish camp and likely would have entered the season as Detroit’s fifth wide receiver. His departure could open the door for Jackson Meeks, who had been battling for a roster spot throughout the preseason.
With the 53-man roster deadline looming, the Lions’ wide receiver depth chart now features Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, Isaac TeSlaa, and Dominic Lovett. Whether Detroit brings Meeks back or makes another move remains to be seen.
