Here we go!!!

This coming Sunday, the Detroit Lions will host the Arizona Cardinals at Ford Field in Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season.

Despite finishing 9-7 and making the NFL Playoffs, the 2016 season was a disappointment for the Lions as they dropped their final three regular season games, which caused them to lose the NFC North title to the hated Green Bay Packers.

The Cardinals, on the other hand, had an even more disappointing season as they finished 7-8-1 and out of the playoffs. This was after they finished the 2015 regular season 13-3 and advancing all the way to the NFC Championship game before getting destroyed by the Carolina Panthers.

Now it’s time for a new beginning and Lions will have their work cut out for them against the Cardinals as the Westgate Superbook has Arizona listed as a 1.5 point favorite on the road.

The last time the Lions met the Cardinals was in 2015 when the two teams squared off at Ford Field. That matchup was dominated by Arizona as they scored 28 points in the second quarter and went on to win the game 42-17. With the win, the Cardinals moved to 4-1 on the season while the Lions dropped to 0-5. In that game, Matthew Stafford had one of his worst performances as a pro as he threw three interceptions in the contest.

Since 2006, the Lions and Cardinals have met on seven occasions with Arizona winning each and every time. The last time the Lions pulled out a win against the team from the desert was on Nov. 13, 2005, when they won 29-21 at Ford Field.

If I was a betting man, I would certainly take the Lions and +1.5 this coming Sunday.
