Isaac Ukwu Hoped To Earn a Spot
Ukwu, 26, appeared in two games for Detroit in 2024, making one start. In limited action, he tallied three tackles (two solo, one for loss) before spending most of the year developing on the practice squad.
Standing 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, Ukwu had bulked up this offseason with hopes of carving out a bigger role in Detroit’s defensive rotation. Despite the move, his brief game experience and steady effort could make him a candidate for another NFL opportunity down the line.
Bottom Line
For now, Detroit’s defensive line depth remains anchored by Aidan Hutchinson, Tyleik Williams, DJ Reader, and Marcus Davenport, with added rotational support from veterans and rookies alike.
