Detroit Lions work out a trio of defensive linemen

The Detroit Lions defense was not able to get consistent pressure on New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold on Monday Night Football, allowing the rookie to complete 76.2% of his passes in his first NFL game.

Part of the reason for the lack of a rush was because Ziggy Ansah hurt his shoulder in the first half and never returned to the game.

On Wednesday, the Lions worked out a trio of defensive linemen (along with two punters, which we reported earlier) including DTs Chris Baker, Jay Bromley, and DE Kendall Reyes.

Baker, who is the biggest name of the three, most recently played a regular season game in 2017 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 15 games (14 starts), the 30-year-old recorded 24 tackles and just a half of a sack. During his previous two seasons with the Washington Redskins, he played in 32 games (27 starts) and racked up 9.5 sacks to go along with 56 tackles.

Bromley was a 3rd Round pick of the New York Giants back in 2014 but he has never really panned out, recording 2 sacks in 55 games (4 starts)

Reyes was selected in the 2nd Round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. His most recent full season came in 2016 when he played in 12 games (10 with K.C. and 2 with Washington). In those games, he collected 15 tackles and a single sack. While we are waiting for the Vegas line on this week’s upcoming game against the Niners, check out this Planet 7 Casino review! Detroit Lions release initial Week 2 Injury Report

Heading into their Week 1 matchup against the New York Jets, the Detroit Lions were one of the healthiest, if not THE healthiest team in the NFL. Unfortunately, that health failed to give the Lions even the slightest advantage over a banged up Jets team as they were pummeled 48-17 at Ford Field.

Now we are on to Week 2 and the Lions are still rather healthy as they make preparations for their road game against the San Francisco 49ers.
