The Detroit Lions will be without one of their veteran linebackers when they host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Zach Cunningham confirmed Friday that he will miss Week 4 due to a hamstring injury, according to Kory Woods of MLive.

Cunningham, 30, joined the Lions this offseason and has already appeared in all three games, recording six total tackles (two assists). While he has yet to make a splash play in Detroit, his experience has been valuable to a young linebacker group that leans heavily on Jack Campbell and Alex Anzalone.

Over his career, Cunningham has built a reputation as a tackling machine. He led the NFL in tackles in 2020 with the Houston Texans, finishing that season with 164 combined stops and three sacks. Across nine seasons, he’s posted 715 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and one interception while playing for the Texans, Titans, Eagles, Broncos, and now the Lions.

With the Browns boasting one of the league’s most physical offenses, Cunningham’s absence will be felt, but Detroit believes their defensive depth can rise to the challenge.
