Detroit Pistons fall for 11th time in 12 games

The Detroit Pistons were coming home hosting a bad Minnesota Timberwolves team after ending a 10 game losing streak in Charlotte on Saturday. They couldn’t keep up the winning ways in this one.

The day started with encouraging news that Andre Drummond could be back in the lineup after missing 21 games, it ended with a terrible loss and angry fans.

The Pistons had an early 6-2 lead after Jason Maxiell, Greg Monroe, and Kyle Singler scored the first six Piston points. Later, they led 10-6 after Brandon Knight found Monroe for a dunk on the fast beak. Jose Calderon put Detroit up 12-8 on a jumper.

Later, Luke Ridnour hit a 3 for Minnesota that would foreshadow the rest of the night. Khris Middleton had a highlight slam for the Pistons and they trailed 19-16 after one.

The second quarter was all about Timberwolves big man, Nikolai Pekovic. Pekovic bullied Monroe, Maxiell, and Charlie Villanueva for six points and six rebounds in the quarter. JJ Barea was knocking down 3’s and getting to the rim as he went by Rodney Stuckey with ease. Minnesota led 44-38 at the half.

The third quarter started with a 3-point shooting barrage. Derrick Williams started it, then Andrei Kirilenko hit a 3, then Ridnour knocked one down, and then Ricky Rubio got into it. Minnesota started the half with back-to-back-back-to-back 3’s. Rubio knocked another 3 down two professions later.

Williams and Chase Budinger hit two more 3’s for Minnesota and Kirilenko ended the quarter with a dunk and the Timberwolves led the Pistons 82-54 after three.

In the 4th, Barea knocked down three more 3’s, Minnesota was unconscious. Lawrence Frank pulled his starters and Detroit ended the game with a make shift lineup of Kim English, Singler, Middleton, Jonas Jerebko, and Slava Kravtsov.

After some Slava moments and a Middleton dunk, the game ended. The Pistons fell 105-82 and the angry Palace crowd booed the Pistons off the floor. If you ask me, they deserved it. Fans pay good money to see a pretty bad team and the Pistons give this type of effort? Seriously? They have now lost seven straight games at home. They haven’t been this bad at the Palace since 2001. Terrible.

The Timberwolves are last in the league in 3-point shooting, tonight they left shooters open on the perimeter and they made 14/26 from deep. JJ Barea shoots 34.5% from deep, tonight he made 5/7. Terrible defense.

Calderon had 14 for Detroit and Monroe had 11 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals.
