Detroit Pistons sign G Buddy Boeheim

According to multiple reports, the Detroit Pistons have signed former Syracuse guard Buddy Boeheim to a two-way contract following the conclusion of the 2022 NBA Draft.

As noted by Dave McMenamin, Buddy is the son of legendary Syracuse head coach, Jim Boeheim.

During his final season at Syracuse, Buddy Boeheim led the team (and the entire ACC) in scoring with 19.2 points per game. He also averaged 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest during his senior season with the Orange.

Boeheim, who is 6-foot-6, 205 lbs, burried 34.1% of his 3-point attempts while shooting a very solid 88.4% from the free-throw line.

From Detroit Free Press:

Boeheim is the son of Hall of Fame Orange coach Jim Boeheim, who was college roommates with former Pistons great and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing.

And that’s not the only link between the Boeheims and Motown. Pistons GM Troy Weaver was a Syracuse assistant from 2000-04. Assistant GM and G-League Motor City Cruise president Rob Murphy was on the Orange staff from 2004-11.

Welcome to the Pistons, Buddy!
