According to the Detroit Red Wings, they have claimed center Gemel Smith off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Smith comes to Hockeytown and joins forces with his brother, Givani, who has been with the Red Wings for parts of the last three seasons.
Gemel Smith has posted three goals and three assists so far this season with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.
