And then there were 26.

According to the Detroit Red Wings, they cut 10 more players from training camp on Sunday, leaving 26 on their current roster. One of those players was 2019 1st round pick, Moritz Seider.

The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forwards Turner Elson, Matt Puempel, Michael Rasmussenand Dominic Turgeon; defensemen Joe Hicketts, Brian Lashoff, Dylan McIlrath and Moritz Seider; and goaltenders Filip Larsson and Calvin Pickard to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.

After finishing preseason play on Saturday in Toronto with a 3-3-3 record, the Red Wings’ roster currently stands at 26 players: 15 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders. Detroit will begin their 2019-20 regular-season schedule with back-to-back games on Saturday, Oct. 5 against the Nashville Predators prior to its home opener on Sunday, Oct. 6 versus the Dallas Stars.
