Detroit Red Wings fan seen in Edmonton attempting to recruit NHL superstars

This guy has his recruiting game on!

A Detroit Red Wings fan was spotted at Rogers Place, the home of the Edmonton Oilers (now led by former Red Wings GM Ken Holland) for last night’s game between the Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs, but he didn’t come empty handed.

He had a giant sign with him imploring the top player from both teams to come and save the Red Wings:

Of course, both players have had huge roles in turning around their respective teams. Oilers forward and captain Connor McDavid is widely regarded as the best player in the NHL, while Toronto’s Auston Matthews is arguably the top U.S. born player in the game.

Should the Red Wings continue with the worst record in the NHL, their odds to land the number one draft pick and land superstar Alexis Lafrenière go up. He’s projected to be this year’s first overall draft selection, and could eventually have the same impact that both McDavid and Matthews have had on their respective teams.

Of course, the odds of either of them ever donning the Winged Wheel are remote…but we can dream, right?
