Detroit Red Wings fans rejoice as ‘fan-favorite’ defenseman is released

According to reports, the Detroit Red Wings have placed D Jonathan Ericsson on waivers.

Ericsson, who is 35, was originally selected by the Red Wings in the 8th round of the 2002 NHL Draft.

In 12 seasons with the Wings, Ericsson scored 27 goals to go along with 98 assists. In all, he was a -9 with the Red Wings in 12 seasons.
