According to reports, Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman rolled the dice and lost. (Though the organization seems to be ok with it.)

On Thursday, the Red Wings lost goaltender Eric Comrie as he was claimed off waivers by the Winnipeg Jets.

According to Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill (Via Helene St. James), they “made the decision with our eyes open. We were able to see him play a couple of game, we were able to see him practice. We said we were ok with the risk.”

St. James also added that G Jimmy Howard will get another rehab start in Grand Rapids before likely returning to the Red Wings by Sunday. This means Yzerman will have to call up a “goalie to-be-named to have as a backup Saturday in Toronto.”

Nation, did Yzerman make a mistake by putting Comrie on waivers in the first place?
