Tonight the Detroit Red Wings will return home for a New Year’s Eve matchup against the Ottawa Senators. Detroit will face Ottawa for the second time this season. The Red Wings lost the first matchup against the Senators this year with a 6-3 loss.

Tonight’s Red Wings player to watch: Lucas Raymond
Raymond comes into this matchup with four points in his last five games, scoring a goal and having three assists. His last goal came against Washington on December 19th. Normally Raymond plays on the first line with Dylan Larkin but as of late, he has been playing on the second line alongside Andrew Copp and Adam Erne. However, today at practice he was skating alongside Copp and Jonatan Berggren hoping that’ll create a spark on the second line.
This season Raymond has scored eight goals and has 12 assists for 20 points, ranking him fifth on the team in points. Raymond hasn’t been as good this season as he was last season, a year in which he scored 23 goals and had 34 assists for 57 points. There’s enough season left however and Raymond could turn things around if he gets hot.
In his career against the Senators, he has appeared in four games with two goals and two assists for four points, good enough for a point-a-game average. This season against the Senators he has one assist. Look for Raymond to give this team a little spark tonight as the Wings try to get back in the win column.
