Detroit Red Wings News: Tomas Jurco recalled, Bertuzzi and Smith placed on injured reserve

The Detroit Red Wings made a few roster moves today,  recalling 23-year-old right wing Tomas Jurco from the Grand Rapids Griffins and removed him from long-term injured reserve. They also placed left wing Tyler Bertuzzi and defenseman Brendan Smith on seven-day injured reserve.

Brendan Smith is out approximately four weeks with a sprained right medial collateral ligament. Tyler Bertuzzi is out three to five weeks with a high left ankle sprain, general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press.

Jurco has missed the first two months of the season due to off-season back surgery – Jurco joined the Griffins last week for conditioning, he recorded one goal, one assist, six penalty minutes and seven shots on goal.

Jurco is expected to play Tuesday when the Detroit Red Wings host the Dallas Stars.
